Just a day busy with ceramics or a completely inclusive holiday.
B&B La Colmena Famosa in southern Spain offers ceramics workshops varying from one day to an all-in 5-day course.
A fantastic spot, due to its rural location, to enjoy the sun and the superb nature while developing your creative talents.
We try to shape the workshops as much as possible to the participants’ wishes. This applies equally to the way of working and the length of the workshops, from a single day to a five-day raku course.
Example:
The five-day raku course costs € 525.00. This sum includes:
• The lessons, clay, glaze, stoking costs and use of materials;
• An excursion to Antequera followed by a round walk on ‘El Torcal’;
• A six-night stay based on double occupancy;
• All meals except for lunch in Antequera;
• Transfer from Málaga Airport and back.

What is Raku firing?
Raku is a traditional Japanese firing technique that is closely associated with the Japanese tea ceremony. After an object has been bisque-fired, it is glazed with material specially suited to raku firing. After the glaze has been applied, the piece is heated in a gas oven to almost 1000ºC for a period of 20 minutes. The red-hot object is then removed from the oven using tongues and is buried under a mix of sawdust and wood shavings. Due to the rapid cooling and oxygen-deprivation, beautiful colours and crackle effects develop (the ‘ancient’ look of old pottery). These results, that never cease to amaze, are revealed after further cooling in water and brushing the piece clean.
